One of the most glamorous cine awards – the Filmfare Awards — will be held in Guwahati on February 15. The 65th Filmfare Awards ceremony, presented by The Times Group, will honor the best Indian Hindi-language films of 2019.
The sole purpose of holding the Filmfare Awards function in Guwahati is to promote Assam’s huge tourism potential by involving Bollywood.
The 65th Filmfare Awards event that will bring all the glitz and glamour of Bollywood to Guwahati will also give good exposure to the traditional Bihu, Sattriya and a fusion of folk and tribal dance forms of Assam. A 12-minute slot has been kept for the three cultural performances of Assam, during which 115 artistes of Assam would present the vibrant culture and dance forms of the State.
Choreographed by Sattriya exponent Jatin Goswami, the classical dance form would be performed by 35 Assamese dancers, whereas Bihu and a fusion of tribal dances of Assam have been designed by Ranjit Gogoi, an acclaimed cultural ambassador of Assam, who has been promoting Bihu on national and international platforms. The two programmes will have 40 Assamese artistes each. Assamese actresses Gayatri Mahanta and Aimee Baruah will also perform.
